Andrew & Joanne’s Sears Home

From 1908-1940, Sears, Roebuck and Co sold over 70,000 homes through their mail-order Modern Homes program. Over that time, Sears designed 447 different house models. These homes were shipped as a kit, by rail all across the country. Andrew & Joanne own one of these Sears kit homes in Keyport and they wanted to expand it to the rear while staying true to the original kit. We generated several schemes to expand the kitchen and bedroom on the first floor and add two shed dormers to the second floor. All new siding, reclaimed/relocated windows and owner built cabinets complete the project. To help them decide on the kitchen expansion we built the space in 3D and they walked around the kitchen with virtual reality goggles.
